The first round of the 2025 Masters at Augusta National began on Thursday morning.

So far, some of the biggest names in the sport likeBryson DeChambeau,Rory McIlroy, and 2024 Masters champion Scottie Scheffler are among those nearthe top of the leaderboard.

That, of course, could all flip on a dime within the next round of play, or even the next couple of holes.

But one of the cooler early stories—and sightings, really—to emerge thus far has been the presence of Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr.

Surprisingly, the 55-year-old is not just there to simply take in golf's biggest event of the year as a spectator. Instead, Griffey is at August National as a credentialed photographer.

By the looks of it, at least based on the above photo from the PGA Tour, the 13-time MLB All-Star appears to be enjoying the unique opportunity.

Shooting the event is reportedly Griffey's first time working the storied tournament and is officially on photo duty for Masters.com, according to Golfweek.

On Thursday morning, Griffey explained on the Masters YouTube channel that getting into photography essentially happened as a result of constantly attracting attention while attending the respective sporting events of his three kids.

"It was the only was I could see my kids ... I figured nobody's messing with the photographer. Well let me pick it up. Let me try it. And I got a couple photographer friends who sent me a couple cameras and lenses and said, 'here you go.' And didn't tell me anything about it, just [said] don't put it on auto."

But the 2025 Masters is hardly Griffey's first huge event as a credentialed photographer. The 1997 American League MVP has also previously shot a Super Bowl as well as a handful of big events for MLB, among others.

As for his impressive baseball accolades, Griffey left quite the lasting mark, hitting an astounding 630 home runs despite battling injuries throughout, which is good for No. 7 on MLB's all-time HR list.
