What items can I purchase with my Healthy Benefits Plus card? ›

With Healthy Benefits+, you get an allowance to spend on thousands of lower-priced OTC products, saving you more and making your benefits go further! You can use your benefits to purchase OTC items including allergy medication, cough drops, first aid supplies, oral care, pain relievers, vitamins and more!

You can also order products online, by phone, or by mail exclusively through our OTC partner, NationsBenefits, and get them delivered to your home at no additional cost. Please note: Your Benefits Prepaid Card is not accepted at online retailers like Walmart.com, but in-store purchases are accepted.

You can only use your card at participating stores — not at convenience stores, restaurants (including fast food), or gas stations.

Q: Can I use my card at Walmart.com? A: No, your card is not accepted at Walmart.com for online purchases. You may use your card for in-store purchases at Walmart.

Once your plan has started, you can use your Benefits Prepaid Card to buy eligible groceries. Eligible products include all food items like fresh meats, fruits and vegetables, canned goods, frozen foods, and more.

Examples of approved food items are fruits, vegetables, meats, poultry, seafood, eggs, dairy, rice, pasta, beans, and much more.

OTC items are not eligible for reimbursement if they are normally used for general health, are not used to treat a medical condition (e.g. toothpaste, mouthwash, lotion, shampoo) or are cosmetic in nature (e.g. teeth whitening products, wrinkle reducers). See additional examples in the OTC Chart.

Use your $25 a month to get items like baby wipes, allergy products, pain relief medicine and more. You can also get everyday items like laundry detergent, soap and toothbrushes.

Can I buy ice cream with my Healthy Foods card? No, ice cream isn't usually permitted with the Healthy Benefits Plus Program.

Can you buy coffee with the healthy benefits card? ›

Some items are not available for purchase, including non-food and pet items, alcohol, baby formula, candy, chips, coffee shop items, desserts, fresh baked goods, soda and tobacco. *Unused credits for the healthy food benefit will expire monthly.

Except as may otherwise be required by law, your Card cannot be: i) redeemed for cash; ii) used to obtain cash in any transaction; iii) used for illegal transactions; or, iv) used to set up recurring payments.

Each quarter you will receive an allowance that you can use toward health-related over-the-counter (OTC) items and drugs that are not covered by Medicare Part A, B or D. Simply use your preloaded debit card to purchase these items.

You may check check the balance on your OTC benefit card by calling the number on the back of your card or signing in to your OTC plan provider's online member portal.

OTC Food Benefit Card

It can be used to purchase eligible food items such as fresh fruits and vegetables, milk, bread, eggs.

Many Benefit cards cover groceries such as fruits and vegetables, or other nutritious foods like fish, poultry, meat, and seafood; most dairy products; and soups and salad kits.

You can use your Benefits Card at certain healthcare and non- healthcare merchants or transit merchants specified by your Benefits Plan. A healthcare merchant includes medical providers such as doctors, dentists, vision care facilities, and other locations that sell only medical services/products.

"You can use your benefits to purchase OTC products including allergy medication, cough drops, first aid supplies, oral care, pain relievers, vitamins, and more," reads the Health Benefits website. Certain items such as soda, candy, chips, and other junk foods are usually not eligible for purchase with the card.
